FIELD TRIP, TWIN LAKES, Burera District (Study Trip).

The purpose of the field trip was to provide students with a practical and educational experience that enhances their appreciation of natural environments, promotes physical activity, builds teamwork, and reinforces lessons from geography and environmental science classes.
Students learned about the geological formation and ecological significance of the Twin Lakes. A local guide explained how the lakes were formed and the biodiversity in and around them.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions and take field notes.
A 3.5 km guided hike was conducted through the surrounding hills. This activity emphasized environmental awareness, physical endurance, and safety in nature. Students were split into groups and each group had a designated leader and teacher to ensure supervision and support.
Under the supervision of trained instructors, students participated in canoeing on one of the lakes. Safety measures were strictly enforced, including life jackets and a safety briefing. Students practiced basic paddling techniques and worked in pairs to improve coordination.
A scenic boat ride allowed students to observe aquatic flora and fauna and provided an opportunity for guided discussions about water-based ecosystems, pollution challenges, and conservation efforts.
