MIPC Strengthens Digital Accounting Skills Through Industry-Based Training

Senior Six Accounting Students Gain Practical Skills in Accounting Software and Taxation

Muhabura Integrated Polytechnic College (MIPC), in partnership with Truly Finance Consultancy Company (TFCCO), strengthened its commitment to preparing students for the modern workplace through a specialized training programme for Senior Six Accounting students, conducted from 13–17 May 2026.

The training focused on computerized accounting, accounting software and taxation, giving students practical, industry-relevant skills that complement their classroom learning and prepare them for national practical examinations, internships, further studies and employment.

Students received hands-on training in QuickBooks and Sage 100, covering key accounting processes such as setting up company information, creating and managing a Chart of Accounts, recording Journal Entries, managing the General Ledger, handling inventory and invoices, generating financial reports, and understanding financial assets.

The programme also introduced students to Rwanda’s tax system and compliance requirements, including Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) guidelines, Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Value Added Tax (VAT), and Pay As You Earn (PAYE). Through practical exercises, students developed a better understanding of how accounting information is used in real business and tax administration processes.

A key achievement of the training was the opportunity for students who successfully passed the competency assessment to receive Certificates of Completion in Sage, QuickBooks and Taxation. These certifications provide additional evidence of their practical competencies and can strengthen their profiles when pursuing internships and employment opportunities.

The training was delivered by Truly Finance Consultancy Company (TFCCO) through qualified professionals, including a Certified Tax Advisor and Certified QuickBooks Accountant & ProAdvisor, bringing current industry knowledge and practical experience into the students’ learning environment.

For MIPC, the initiative demonstrates the College’s commitment to computerized skills, professional development and competency-based education. By exposing students to modern accounting technologies and professional practices while they are still in school, MIPC is helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and workplace expectations.

MIPC continues to invest in practical, technology-driven and industry-responsive education to produce graduates who are competent, confident and ready to contribute to Rwanda’s labour market and economic development.
