L3 NIT Students of MIPC Gain Hands-On Experience with CCTV and IoT Technologies During Study Visit to Gem King and ALX.
Students from Level 3 Networking and Internet Technology (L3 NIT) in Muhabura Integrated Polytechnic College (MIPC) conducted an educational study visit on 11 March as part of their practical learning activities. The visit included trips to Gem King Company and ALX.
During their visit to Gem King located at Kigali Town, students were introduced to several technologies related to security and smart systems. The company’s technical staff demonstrated how CCTV cameras are installed, configured, and monitored in real working environments. This practical exposure helped students better understand the concepts they have been studying in class, particularly in areas related to network infrastructure and surveillance systems.

In addition to CCTV technology, students were also introduced to Internet of Things (IoT) solutions used in modern security systems. They learned about technologies such as fingerprint access control systems, smart monitoring devices, and other automated security solutions. These demonstrations allowed students to see how IoT devices are integrated into real-life applications, helping them strengthen their technical skills and practical understanding.
After the visit to Gem King, the students proceeded to ALX in Nyarutarama, where they received information about programs designed to empower young people with digital, leadership, and professional skills. The ALX team shared insights about technology careers and the importance of continuous learning in the digital era.

The study visit provided valuable hands-on experience and helped bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world practice. It also motivated the students to continue developing their technical abilities and explore emerging technologies in the IT industry.
